The Internet promotes even more exotic eyelash enhancements

The Internet promotes even more exotic eyelash enhancements, like weaving tiny glass beads onto ultra-thin wire and applying them with an adhesive to your eyelids.

“The risks of eyelash extensions are not only an allergic reaction to the glue but erosion of the inner surface of the eyelids,” Avitzur said. β€œAnd they can cause permanent damage to your natural lashes. It doesn’t take an expert to see trouble coming with sharp objects placed so close to the eye.”

Consumer Reports said you’re better off doing what Racioppo does now — just using mascara for fuller, thicker lashes. Consumer Reports also said you should replace mascara every few months, but you don’t necessarily need to buy expensive mascara. Westboro-based lampworking studio Elsie Kaye Glassworks has received a grant of $425 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. This grant was awarded through the MCC’s local Westborough Cultural Council and will support a “hands-on” seminar about lampworking.

Holly Kenny, owner of Elsie Kaye Glassworks, will host the seminar, Exploration Through Glass, where participants will learn the fundamentals of lampworking, including important safety basics and torch and equipment use. The seminar also will review the properties of glass, the concept of shaping, using tools and simple surface decoration. Participants will have the opportunity to make several beads using a propane-oxygen fueled torch and soft glass.
